Chronopost Portugal supports the older population
Chronopost Portugal supports the charity association Coração Amarelo, a charitable organization dedicated to minimize the loneliness and lack of mobility of the older population
March 2010 - Chronopost Portugal chose the charity foundation, Coração Amarelo that supports the elderly for a new yearly commitment, offering goods like wheelchairs and medical items.
Coração Amarelo was founded in 2000 and became the main assistance to Senior citizens, providing company, friendship and kindness. Recently, Chronopost has decided to support the institution through the provision of useful material, such as wheelchairs, medical items, adjustable seats for bath, etc. This is the 4th year that Chronopost Portugal decides to help a social institution, having already supported Acreditar, Refúgio Aboim Ascenção and Ajuda de Berço.
But the concept of Coração Amarelo is different because it provides support for the elderly (all the other previous charity’s foundations supported children).”Working with this institution has been a great experience”, reveals Carla Martins, Marketing and Communication Manager, “Up to now, the company has been more sensible to the problems of children instead of the elderly. We discovered that we could be more useful for this population who suffers from lack of mobility apart from the fact that we are happy to make people feel loved and cherished”.
Founded by a group of friends, with careers in areas such as social assistant, psychologist and nurse, the Coração Amarelo Association currently has about 500 members and many volunteers around the country, in locations where they are present: Lisboa, Oeiras, Cascais , Cacém, Sintra and Porto.
Chronopost initiative with Coração Amarelo, which began at Christmas, will continue during 2010.
