SD week at GeoPost

Sustainable development week: mobilisation at GeoPost

For GeoPost, the 2010 Sustainable Development Week, in April, was an event focused on raising awareness and sharing progress. For the third consecutive year, the programme obtained a label of approval from the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) and the Ministry for Sustainable Development.

La Poste Group was a partner to the week’s events and supported the initiative with free invitations to the Planète Durable Exhibition for all employees of its French subsidiaries. The Group also provided two posters, to complement the ADEME’s posters; spotlighting its commitments and highlighting some of the eco-citizen actions that help it achieve environmental objectives.

Every six months the GeoPost Group measures a range of common indicators within 13 of its European subsidiaries. Using the results, it has produced a detailed audit of CO2 emissions, waste, paper consumption and energy consumption in its buildings.

The audit information was released to over 1,500 employees throughout Europe, accompanied by a range of initiatives for staff and local partners.

During Sustainable Development Week, a poster campaign and daily emails were accompanied by concrete actions:

  • Chronopost, DPD Belgium, DPD Luxembourg, Exapaq, GeoPost SA and Télintrans chose paper as a theme with an exhibition to illustrate daily paper consumption per person and to promote “responsible” paper.
  • Pegasus in Romania launched an in-house competition encouraging employees and their ideas for Sustainable Development actions.
  • DPD Belgium and DPD Luxembourg launched the “DPD Eco News”, a weekly e-newsletter with information about company actions.
  • DPD Switzerland invited its suppliers to a special Sustainable Development meeting. 70 of them and company employees discovered the latest eco-friendly models from Mercedes, Iveco, Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, Citroën…   Also present were DPD Suisse SA’s energy (Erdgas, Shell), tyre (Michelin, Continental) and financial partners (insurance and leasing companies), with all their sustainable development offers on show.

The week’s events were a resounding success and proof of that 2006 GeoPost’s commitment to integrate Sustainable Development into its processes and corporate culture has become reality.
